What is the composition?

The formula is made up of Dual Compounds SBR (Styrene Butadiene) & Natural Rubber 60d & 75-85a hardness respectively.  The bearing is made up of a soft internal layer of rubber which eliminates any shaft wear & a hard external rubber shell which bounds to the skeg, stern tube or strut.  These compounds provide good physical properties namely abrasion & wear; high tensile & tear strengths, plus water resistance.  The straight fluted design allows maximum resistance to harsh wear.

What sizes are available?

In addition to our huge range of marine rubber bearings, we also stock a variety of both brass case & novasteen bearings at our Coomera workshop.  Watson Marine stocks bearings to suit all shaft sizes from 7/8” to 4” so visit us today to ensure the correct bearings are fitted to your vessel.  Although the inside diameter of bearings can’t be altered, the outside diameter can easily be turned down on site to suit the inside diameter of any skeg, stern or rudder tube.  If we don’t have it in stock we can generally machine it.

Watson Marines’ experienced tradesmen can change skeg, stern tube & rudder bearings, of all different sizes & styles.  Using our custom fabricated bearing dollies, we make a tough job; look a breeze.  Watson Marine also has the facilities to rebush white metal bearings on large motor cruises & trawlers.
